Our Services

well and sick visits

  • Schedule a well examination for your annual physical evaluation, medication review and prescription refills
  • Schedule a sick visit if you are feeling ill.  This visit will include evaluation of past medical history, current medical problems, medication review, physical examination and new prescriptions (if required) to overcome your current illness
  • Assessment of vital signs and measurement of blood oxygen via pulse oximetry is included in every evaluation
  • Additional ancillary services (see below) to further aid in the diagnosis of your current medical problem may be performed

executive physical examinations

This comprehensive physical examination goes beyond a regular evaluation.  Whereas a regular evaluation normally focuses on specific complaints and corresponding body systems, an executive physical examination evaluates multiple body systems regardless of symptoms.  You can expect:

  • Comprehensive lab testing*
  • Extensive personal and family medical history
  • Assessment of risk factors for cerebral and cardiovascular diseases
  • Evaluation and screening for sleep disorders and depression
  • Electrocardiography (ECG or EKG)
  • Measurement of blood oxygen levels
  • Ankle Brachial Indices (screening for vascular disease)
  • Pulmonary (lung) function testing
  • Complete physical examination
  • Cancer screening
  • Thorough skin examination for skin cancer, using dermoscopy

A formal report of all findings will be delivered to you within two weeks of your evaluation.

the exhaustive executive physical

Our traditional Executive Physical is now even better.  We have contracted with a local radiology facility to add preventative screening services.  In addition to the items listed under the heading of executive physical examination, we have added an echocardiogram (an ultrasound of the heart showing valvular and muscular function), an ultrasound of your carotid and aortic arteries looking for plaque accumulation and aneurysmal dilation, and a screening chest x-ray.  Schedule three days for this complete evaluation:

  • day 1 -- history and physical examination, ecg, blood work*, and lung function testing
  • day 2 -- radiologic procedures at the contracted Radiology facility
  • day 10 -- return visit to discuss results, findings and further work-up as indicated

telephone and travel consultation

  • We will be happy to schedule a time for telephone consultation without a face-to-face visit.  Unfortunately, it is our practice policy not to refill or renew prescription medications without first examining all of our patients.  Additionally, we are unable to refer patients for specialist consultation without an initial evaluation.
  • Traveling out of the country and worried about endemic disease or the need for vaccinations prior to travel?  Tell us where you are going and we will prepare a report of potential medical problems related to your particular travel destination.

cancer screening evaluation

  • This unique appointment includes review of your personal and family medical history and cancer risk factor assessment.
  • You will undergo a complete physical examination, a complete skin evaluation using dermoscopy (a tool that magnifies skin lesions under polarized light to best differentiate melanoma from other pigmented lesions), breast examination for females, rectal examination and testing for fecal occult blood (microscopic blood that potentially is related to a cancer), and men simultaneously get a prostate examination.

  • Lab work will be drawn*, and you will be referred for a chest x-ray at the radiology facility of your choice.

acute migraine intervention

  • Dr. Brimhall utilizes an under-recognized treatment for severe migraine headache not responding to your regular treatment.
  • This procedure is called Sphenopalatine Ganglion Blockade and requires the placement of a hollow cotton swab into your nostrils saturated with a special formulation of local anesthetic.  95% of patients have complete resolution of their current migraine headache within about 20 minutes.

verichip placement

  • The VeriChip radio frequency identification tag is a FDA-approved medical device for patient medical record storage and patient identification.
  • You have likely heard of the "microchips" that are placed in pets for improving identification.  The VeriChip is a similar product, but stores no sensitive data, only a 16-digit unique identification number that can be entered into a secure website in order to access your medical history, medications, allergies, living will, power-of-attorney for healthcare, do not resuscitate orders, organ donor card, etc.

  • Check out VeriChip's official website, then call Dr. Brimhall, the only physician in Southern Nevada that is regularly recommending and placing chips (a painless 10-minute procedure).

  • Get "chipped" today!

ancillary services

  • Spirometry (Lung Function Assessment)

  • Pulse Oximetry (blood oxygen measurement)

  • Urinalysis

  • Urine pregnancy

  • Blood draws*

  • Tuberculosis skin testing

  • Laceration repair

  • Skin lesion biopsy

  • Joint Injections / Tender Point Injections / Prolotherapy

*For our Executive Physical Examinations, our fees cover your lab collection, specimen handling and courier fees, but they do not cover the actual cost of the tests obtained.  Every lab facility (Quest, LabCorp, etc.) has different charges for each of their individual tests, most of which are covered benefits of your insurance.  For patients requesting services other than the Executive Physical Examinations, you will be referred to a local lab facility for bloodwork.  If you are currently utilizing home health services, this likely can be completed in your home.
